Welcome to Laurentian Masters

Since 1989, Laurentian Masters has provided swimming for adults of all abilities and interests.  Our workouts take place at the Jeno Tihanyi Olympic Gold Pool on the campus of Laurentian University in Sudbury.

Some of our swimmers are new to masters swimming and are primarily interested in stroke improvement and/or fitness. Others compete in triathlons and masters competitions.

We have six workouts a week with a swim coach present at each workout. Our coach prepares the workouts and assists swimmers with stroke technique. There are generally two different workouts prepared for each session to meet the needs of the variety of levels of swimmers present.

Laurentian Masters is affiliated with Masters Swimming Ontario (MSO), the provincial coordinating body for masters swimming in the province.

Latest News...

If you want to stay in shape this fall and winter, then look no further than Laurentian Masters Swim Club.

The club opens the season on Saturday, September 17 at 6:30 a.m. All workouts are held at the Jeno Tihanyi Olympic Gold Pool on the campus of Laurentian University.

This swim club, founded in 1989, is made for swimmers of all abilities. Anyone over age 18 can join and develop with the support of an expert coaching staff. A competitive swimming background isn’t necessary. Over the years athletes from other sports – including running, triathlon, and rowing – have swum masters.

The ultimate goals of master’s swimming are fitness and friendship through swimming. The majority of people do not compete.

The club members who do compete at provincial and national events have brought personal and team achievements to Sudbury, and qualified for the 2012 world championships in Italy.

Laurentian Masters is a comfortable and safe place to enjoy swimming over the winter. For more information on the program, schedule and the 2011-12 fees, please visit: www.laurentianmasters.ca.
